Shantele Lewellen graduated from Thurston High School where she was one of the first women to join Transportation Technology. She learned to weld and built an electric car from the ground up. She also raced it against other districts in the state and placed 7th in the State of Oregon. Thurston High is also where she met her high school sweetheart, Tim Lewellen, and they are now happily married. Tim and Shantele bought a home in Lowell and they cannot wait to get involved in the community, work hard, and eventually start a family.
Tim started his small business Great Wakes Marine while Shantele pursued education. She later graduated from the University of Oregon with her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Business.
After some time in the business field, her love of education brought her to an Educational Assistant position at a Title I school in the Springfield School District. She loved educating children so much she decided to go back to school and earned her Masters of Arts in Teaching at Pacific University.
Shantele is passionate about health and fitness. She enjoys cooking healthy meals, staying active, and loves the outdoors. In the winter you can find Tim and Shantele snowboarding, riding at the dunes, and hiking with their dog Harley. In the summer you will find them wakeboarding and wake-surfing on Dexter lake.
Shantele is a true lifelong learner and is a strong advocate for establishing Growth Mindset in the classroom. She believes her number one trait is grit, which is one of the reasons she decided to become an educator. She wants to instill a growth mindset, desire to learn, and academic tenacity in every one of her students.
She is delighted to be at Mountain View Academy where she is teaching First grade. She is eager to meet her students and work – as a team – with their parents to give them the excellent education they deserve.
