| The Mountain View Academy School Board encourages public input. Persons wishing to address the Board on school related issues – either in person, virtually, or via email – are invited to do so either when the item is presented on the agenda, or under the “Public Comments” section. In the interest of time and order, presentations from the public are limited to three (3) minutes per person, and the total time for individual agenda items shall not exceed (21) minutes. An individual speaker’s allotted time may not be increased by a donation of time from members of the public in attendance. If you wish to speak under Public Comments, please complete a Public Comment Form and turn it in to Board Secretary Stephanie Johnson or the public may submit written comments by email to MVAboardsecretary@mtviewacademy.org. Clearly label the subject line as: “Public Comment: November Board meeting”. The deadline to receive public comment is noon on the day of the board meeting. The Board requests complaints or charges against an employee be held in Executive Session. Individuals who require disability-related accommodations, modifications, or a virtual option to participate in the Board meeting should provide written notice to the Director 24 hours prior to the meeting. |

1.0 OPENING OF PUBLIC SESSION –
1.1 Public Session Meeting called to order at 6:05 pm due to issues with ZOOM.

1.3 Approval of Agenda: November Agenda is approved.
1.4 Approval of Minutes: October minutes are approved as written.
1.5 Schedule Next Meeting: The next meeting is scheduled for January 24, 2023 @ 6pm. No December meeting.
1.6 Budget: The Board received and reviewed the budget.
1.7 Financial Report: The Board has received and reviewed their financial packets.
2.0 PUBLIC COMMENT – Opportunity for Citizens to address items not on the agenda. Persons wishing to address the Board on any school related issue not listed elsewhere on the agenda are invited to do so now. Audience time is not intended as a forum for public debate. Questions raised may require further investigation. Normally, the board will wait until its next meeting before responding to concerns raised.

3.0 ACTION DISCUSSION
3.1 Onboarding of Nicco Garcia – Cash to the Mountain View Academy Board of Directors. Mr. Garcia-Cash will fill the vacancy of a prior member, who is up for re-election on 6/2023. Nicco Garcia-Cash accepts the appointment to fill position 5 on the Mountain View Academy School Board. Stephanie Johnson motions to accept Nicco Garcia-Cash to fill position 5. Beau Garner seconds the motion. The motion has unanimously passed.
3.2 Onboarding of Amber Burton to the Mountain View Academy Board of Directors. Mrs. Burton is being elected to position 6; this position will be up for re-election on 6/2024. Amber Burton accepts the appointment to position 6 on the Mountain View Academy School Board. Beau Garner motions to accept Amber Burton to position 6. Stacey Kelso seconds the motion. The motion has unanimously passed.
3.3 Formal evaluation process – In December, Jessica is responsible to notify the board regarding the formal evaluation process. This process begins in January and the board provides a formal evaluation of the Executive Director, in February. There is a request for an action discussion at the next meeting that explains the process of this evaluation to our new members.
3.4 Charter Contract update – Lowell has requested two Mountain View Academy board members meet with two Lowell School District board members to discuss the new charter contract agreement. Julie & Beau will attend this meeting with Jessica and Laurie. December 14th and January 9th were dates where the MVA group could all gather. Jessica will inform the Lowell School District of available dates/times to meet. Beau Garner requested that the contracts be provided to us 72 hours in advance of the meeting.
3.5 2023 – 2024 Calendar Discussion –There is some concern about the first day of school as well as the holiday break. Jessica will present these concerns to the staff when they meet to discuss the calendar in January. We will revisit the 2023 – 2024 school calendar in the January meeting.
4.0 INFORMATION AND STUDY
4.1 Board Chair report– Kelly is fine tuning the weather emergency communication system between MVA and our families. She continues to navigate lots of technology/Synergy issues but is doing an amazing job of staying ahead of the problems.
– We are still working through a couple issues in the change-over from our board blog to the website. However, our minutes and past meetings are now up and available on the MVA website.
– The final audit report came back without any concerns, per Maureen.
– Instruction given to the new board members to check their email regularly. Communication protocol was also covered.
– There is an OSBA conference available this summer, still waiting on the details of the new location and dates.
– There are people to acknowledge and remember this holiday season – Julie provided cards for the board to sign.
4.2 Administrator’s Report – SIA grant is reviewed and will be submitted with the entire school district; MVA’s SIA annual report has been submitted.
– Parent teacher conference was ~80% attended, due to illness. Teachers are working to connect with and reschedule the remaining families.
– Substitutes are very few – Jill has accepted the substitute teacher position for the 2022 – 2023 year.
– The staff is working together to cover whenever we have an unfilled position, and their teamwork is helping us stay successful.
– Outdoor School will be at USBA to study the dangers of wildfires and how to prevent them.
4.3 Board Comments– No comment.
